Base for Loop antenna . “Deutsche Telephon Werke Und Kable Industrie Ag. – Berlin” (Circa 1923) Sold in US by Tobe C Deutschmann. I have a collector here with one that has its base missing.

That looks like mine in the photo. I can take more shots and get dimensions. It's Tobe Deutschmann by the way.

Ah!... the benefits of secondhand info.... will correct.
Thanks for feedback; I can organise to get a better quality photo of the actual apparatus here, if required (its about 8 miles away). The customer can likely do the woodwork (so can I). Any metal turning will end up in my lap. It also looks like I will have to machine a few pins for the frets, seperating the wires, as several are broken. They are not unlike the ones in some Flat belt joiners and they may fit?
Dimensions, and a better photo than that I posted, as an example, would indeed be greatly appreciated.
I would suggest bigger larger photo's go by PM or Similar. rather than clog the site. I am President of a radio Club listed in ARC. Its a double edged sword having data listed, in various places.

You have your work cut out for you: there are quite a few metal parts, all apparently nickel-plated brass. The azimuth plate is etched, and there are three knurled thumb nuts and a large threaded collar with a nut to adjust play for the folding legs. The legs are 13" and 16" long.

Incidentally Tobe (pronounced Tobey) was quite a character. His brother Arnold founded Radio Shack. A friend of mine used to work for him, and Jim Millen told me some stories too.

Thanks again for feedback
I think that the only real awkward part is the strut judging by the fact that the nut appears to have a pin in it. That would tend to indicate, that it is pushing the strut down, with some sort of plate fixed to it.
I would be interested in the dimensions of the wood & basically everything. All that is on the base of this one iis a 10mm hole and two grub screws 37mm between centers. so currently it is a bit abstract as to how the base & frame marry.
I doubt that we will try and pretend that the base we make is original. It would be quite easy to make the plate from Aluminium in one go. There is an aircraft refurbisment business here and I may be able to get a piece of Duralium (which the Germans invented). The lathe can do some thread work. I did make an new wood lathe shaft recently and that needed threads each end.

Yours looks a little later than mine, so there may be no reason to make an exact copy anyway. Mine has no Tobe Deutschmann label; there is only a tiny metal label on the base "Made in Germany." But I'm sure Tobe imported it, since I found two in an estate south of Boston. He advertised in QST. Attachment:

I would agree the base is different, the grub screws may well have held on some form of pressed metal flange or the shaft itself. That may have proved weak and failed.... looks flimsy there.
Anyway its easy to turn a suitable arbour. The journal is fairly easy, Apart from the diameter of the disk, the height from the ground to say the inner fulcrum pin of the spring (as they are different models) may be an advantage. As would a close up of the levelling mechanisms. and the base of the cross.
I am now suspicious that the 10mm hole was the center for the arbour

William Halligan worked for him also and it was enough to get a Southie Irish boy to move to Chicago and found Hallicrafters. Id heard the Deutchmanns had some unsavory contacts. Halligan would tell tales of those days at ham conventions and I heard more from Eli Heffron's sons when making regular Saturday pilgrimages to their surplus emporium with Jack Wilson, W1QXX, who knew Eli. This is minus the dimensions, however that is not relavant to the patent when it was submitted. http://www.freepatentsonline.com/1696529.pdfIf someone could give an indication of the dimensions in Fig 8 of the second sheet, that would be greatly appreciated. Marc
