found this interesting looking radio for sale at a second hand/antique shop in my area. The price is kind of high, so Im probably going to pass on it, but Im still interested in what it is and maybe what its worth. (To me a radio's worth is the fun you have working on it, not the price tag haha). SO here it is and let me know if you know anything about it.

Kinda looks like an Emerson logo under the center knob.

Was going to say that's an Emersonian dial, and Salval's right about the treble clef Emerson logo. Don't see many Emerson consoles.

Your right. I see it now. Must have been one of the best ones they made.

It is an Emerson, he says he doesnt know the model. I think he is a dealer, so probably wont go cheap. I think its too high, only worth about $50. I think it is only a 6 or 8 tuber, most of the higher ones had pushbuttons that I could find.

How about an Emerson AB183 15 tuber?

Listed in mark Stein's Console book as model 183

That is one high end radio. I'd be all over that. Very uncommon.

I went over there to look at it and to my surprise it was a 15 tube model in pretty good shape. The lady said it only needed a tube. I asked her how she knew that. Turns out it was actually missing one tube. Interesting thing is it has two 80's and one transformer in it. I never saw a combo like that.

Slusser doesn't list it, so I am not sure what it may be worth.

I'd throw $300 at it without a second thought.

Stein's value is $750, but I find his console prices to be very high...usually by a factor of two, at least.

Thing is, you're going to see many thousands of 12-tube Zeniths or other really popular "high end" consoles for every one of these. There may be 10 of these. Or 20. I find myself attracted to stuff like this. You may never see another. I'd be all over it. If it's under $250, I wouldn't even think about it -- into the car it goes.. :)
