I hit the $250 BIN button today and am working on shipping issues to get it here.

Note the lit tubes-I hope no damage was done when they plugged this in.

I got interested in these circa 1948 RCA projection TV's after I acquired an RCA Berkshire Regency last year AND
after reading the very detailed and informative restoration threads here by forum members on similar RCA's.

I got a bunch of spare parts for the TV system with my Berkshire and I want to get more involved in cabinet restorations.
Flaws I see are the missing back metal mesh grill and a missing knob so far. (Anyone with a correct knob PM me BTW)

Ya just have to love the veneers used by RCA back then and once I confirmed the Naugahyde used on the sides was correct
and original on this one, I made up my mind to get this one. It seems there were about 2000 or so of these sold over a 2 year
period and these were mostly for "clubs" as compared to the other models meant for private home owner usage.
Original sales price was somewhere around $1250 as compared to my Berkshire's price of $3250.

Bruce,

I bought mine a few years ago when prices were sky high, don't regret it as it is one of the better looking projection sets.

The knob is common RCA used on many late forties sets, I have plenty of spares. As you probably learned from the Berkshire, you need to have the spherical mirror re-silvered to get the picture quality at its best, also all the projection parts are commonly available as all RCA projection sets used the same parts from 1946 to 1949.

Did you find that the front panel pulls down to access the chassis'?, took me awhile before I found the door.

Nice save, I have been watching that for a long time and just couldn't work out the shipping.
That is a nice looking projection set, should be a fun project.

Nice save! I was hoping someone from here or from VK would pick this up. Please keep us up to date on your restoration. :D

Steve Pielock, over on VK, has done a couple of these at least. He had some very interesting threads on the progress.

I'm glad somebody got that set. Chuck has one...I have one, they are around a little bit. Each chassis is interchangable with some other set so you won't get stuck getting it working. Biggies are having a really good crt and spherical mirror. CRAIG

I have some spare parts already for these, the amp, the main chassis, a spare tested CRT and even an original remote control box.
I don't have a spare mirror or parts with that.

A Buddie near me also has a different model PTV in a blonde finish. I think its a model 6-41.

Thanks all
