I posted about the fisher the halicrafters a couple weeks ago and ive gotten some more radio supplies from my father. I dont know what half of it is or whats usable. One day ill restore the fisher but its to big af a project for me. Im not new to electronics and ive got a basic knowledge. In this batch theres a heathkit that may be a good first radio to recap. Hopefully as i learn I can add something useful to this site rather than the random 2 post ive made.

Neat old stuff, but I'm afraid you aren't gonna get much. Donate to local radio club and that would be good. Scrap copper from transformers worth a little bit, much more if they're good, someone wants them.

Im not looking to sell it. If some of this is no good or not safe ill get rid of it(not yet knowledgeable enough to know). The rest will be kept for future use, or at least the possibility of being used.

The two amplifiers in the second picture can bring a few hundred each on eBay if properly identified and described. The Heathkit AM tuner MIGHT be interest to a collector - the FM ones are common as dirt, AM not so much.

Like i say this stuff isnt for making me money. Ill be using it to learn and play around with. He built the amps(i think) so no model number and i dont have a clue what they as to the output. A couple pics of the bigger amp.

The Heathkit in your photos is not a radio, but an AM Tuner - that is a radio without and audio output amplifier, intended to be used with an external amplifier and speaker. The heathkit tuner design required an external loop antenna - instructions on how to make the loop were included in the kit manual.
The heavy amplifier with the Acrosound transformer may be one of the designs published by Acrosound. If you send your email address I can send you a scan of the brochure with these designs.
I'm sorry to disagree with Codefox, but the amplifier with the Acrosound transformer and possibly the Triad transformers from the other amp would bring significant cash on ebay.

Your grandfather did some nice work. Hope you can follow in his footsteps.
And yes, the Heathkit AM tuner would be a pretty good candidate to begin with.
If you don't have the manual, I'm pretty sure you can find it online.

Make friends with the hams in your area. I'm sure there's a club close by.
Nothing beats one on one, personal advice. Most hams are more than happy to help a novice.

Best of luck,

And get one (or both!) of those nice amps working. Use one to amplify the AM tuner. Enjoy as your grandfather enjoyed.
-priceless.

There is no way I would scrap those amplifiers as just the Acrosound output transformer is worth big bucks. I would say to rebuild the tuner and the amps and use them like your grandfather did. Harry

They all work. Well most work. I know the 2 preamps and 4 amps with the fisher work. Its more a matter of safety. Thanks for the info Chuck

That larger chassis looks more like a power supply.

I'm curious about that 300 to 72 ohm transformer. Why 72 ohms instead of the common 75? What used a 72 ohm in/output?

In the early days of CATV 72 and 75 were somewhat interchangeable. Even the venerable Jerrold 704B field strength meter had its input labelled as 72 ohms as did many of their products at the time.
Here's a 704B:
