I have a resistor that is burning up (smokes) when I turn on my radio. Here's the deal:
I have a Radio Craftsmen RC-8: http://www.nostalgiaair.org/Resources/044/M0016044.htm
I replaced the caps and the unit preformed beautifully. One day, the radio suddenly looses power, and i shut it off right away wondering what was up. The 1K 5W resistor right after the 5Y3GT tube got real hot. I replaced it. It smokes if I turn it on now.
Looking at the schematic, there is a 700Ohm 10W resistor behind that one. It wasn't
under my chassis. I added that resistor, but no chance to the hot resistor problem...
I'm reading 278 volts off the rectifier tube, supposed to be 280. Any ideas?
