I believe that "Wonderful Girl" was actually the flip. It doesn't matter. Both sides of that record are "wonderful"! Speaking of that, The Five Satins had a nice (original) version of "Wonderful Girl".

The three girls that made up The Teen Trio -- Sandy Schneider and twin sisters, Jean and June Hendon -- actually began singing together in their preteen years in their home state of Michigan when they were known as The Three Chicks. After they joined the Pennsylvanians, Fred Waring renamed them The Teen Trio.

The only song of theirs on utube is here

@ John S I just looked at my Dion 45 and you could be right but it was issued on REO records in canada (maybe reissue) ? and
looking at both sides Wonderful Girl has 8475X-S1 i was taking it S1 meant side one as if i flip it over it says the same number but -S2 on the flip side.
It also says by arrangement with Laurie Records USA, i presume this was the label they recorded on in the states.

Yup, Laurie 3052 here in the lower 48.

Speaking of Dion and The Belmonts, the B side of "Where or When" from late 1959 was, "That's My Desire", a great Doo Wop song.

I stand corrected about the Dion and The Belmonts record. Here in the states, "Wonderful Girl" has the record ID as ZTSP 64392 on the label, and "When You Wish..." has it as ZTSP 64477. So, it may be one of those cases where the intended B side actually became the hit! "When You Wish..." became a minor hit on Billboard in 1960.

Both sides say record number 3052, BTW.

I was going by what my Billboard book says. It lists "Wonderful Girl" as the B side. But, that may not be what the record company intended it to be when it was released. Who knows? Like I said, they are both very good songs, along with "Where Or When" and "That's My Desire"!

Well I do.

I recorded "When You Wish..." in June, 1960 with my R to R recorder off KFWB, 980 Kc, as they were playing charted records. I don't recall "Wonderful Girl" being played at all.

I believe it only got, "top billing", because it was a shorter title, therefore being able to fit within the horizontal space between the left edge of the sleeve, and the record label logo.

Trust one who was there at the time, the B side didn't get airplay at all, and the A side, only occasionally, given the plethora of hits it was up against at the time. This is the highest it charted.

Belmont Avenue in the Bronx. The group of guys that backed up Dion for a few years were named after that New York City street. The Del-Satins (uncredited) backed up Dion for quite a few recordings after he split with The Belmonts in 1960. That's why some people think that The Belmonts were still with Dion, because the Del-Satins name wasn't on the record label. The Del-Satins had their own recordings. One of them being the great "Teardrops Follow Me", with "Best Wishes, Good Luck, Good-Bye" as a decent flip side. Another great Del-Satins record is "Feeling No Pain".

That's another interesting topic, records on which the A-side flopped and the B-side became the hit. There are quite a few of those.

That's right. Kiss' "Detroit Rock City" was supposed to be the hit on that disc, and it was flipped by most DJs so they could play "Beth". The funny story is that Kiss only put Beth on the flip so NOBODY would play it.

I think there's a similar story about Tommy James' "Hanky Panky", but I can't remember the details.

Someone else mentioned "Maggie May" by Rod Stewart, which I think falls into that category.

Vince Guaraldi's "Cast Your Fate to the Wind" was the B-Side of "Samba de Orpheu".

I'm sure I have more but they don't come springing to mind right now.
