EMC-Model 801 Resistance Capacitance Comparator Bridge

Hello everyone, I am new to antique radio,and am just getting equipment and parts together for my first project. I bought an EMC-Model 801 Resistance Capacitance Comparator Bridge off of ebay and I need a manual for it Can anyone here please help me out? I am really excited about getting in to this new hobby and I want to know how to use my testers as effectivly as possible.Thanks in advance,Danridge------------------

Hi Danridge and welcome to the hobby. You are in luck. I bought one of those units mail order back in the 60's and it worked well for me as I was beginning my electronics hobby. I think I bought it from Burstein-Applebee. Anyway, I do still have the manual and will make a copy and send it to you. It is only a few pages. I have fetched my EMC-801 and took a look inside last night. The EZ 81 was made in India,
with a 1972 date code. This corresponds to the history of the lot of goods it was in. The
gentleman was from that part of the world, and his widow tells that he put together the
first TV station in Pakistan.

It is interesting that it combines the 20 mHz open capacitor circuit with the conventional
RCL comparator/bridge. It looks like an Eico designer did the panel layout, but the
production run was too small for custom knobs.

And thanks to Tim for the .pdf of the manual. The schematic doesn't show the 6.3/12.6
connections for the filaments, but the range resistors look like precision types.

I just pulled my M801 out after decades in storage. I discovered a tube broken (not the magic eye). As luck would have it, the crack goes through the only faint marking I can see on it. It looks like "B9J4" or something close to that.

Does anyone know what the correct tube is? Also, I, too, need a copy of the manual. I would appreciate if someone could send a file to " palmquistdavid <at> yahoo ".

The tube is a 6CA4/EZ81.
