I found several of the 45 RCA changer type machines on our vacation. This seemed to be the most unusual with a 16 RPM and a 45 RPM selection. I was unaware RCA made a changer of this style that would handle 16 RPM. I want to see the idler for that. I am hoping Gary at VM has them or can rebuild. It has a smaller tone arm also.

That explains a lot. It sure fooled me. I cannot remember having a 16 RPM record except for the Seeburg background machines and they were not 7". I did think some company used the RCA changer in a similar case if not the exact case. Hoping I can get the parts to make it go. Thank You for enlightening me! David (Geritol Ghetto)

The 16-rpm talking book records were identical to a 45-rpm record, different from the Seeburg records. Unlike the RCA 45 players, it has automatic shut-off after the last record plays. The tone arm lifts up and moves over to detect a record on the upper spindle, if not it shuts off.

You are correct, Juke47. Truetone offered that box with either the VM changer or an RCA RP-190. As Doug mentioned, a nice feature of the VM changer is that it shuts off after the last record plays. Often wonder if RCA ever thought of incorporating that feature.
