Well as usual just after I buy someing expensive and get it shipped in, something similar pops up locally.

I recently got a nice working I-177b and MX-949 adapter. Now I have an opportunity to pick up a nice condition working Hickok 800 minus the CA-4 adapter close to home.

What is a fair price to pay for an 800 and would it provide me any real capability that the I-177b and adapter doesn't have?

Of course it is always nice to have another tester. But times what they are and the cost must be considered.

Any thoughts?

I have both a 177 and an 800. The 177 even with the adapter is not good for the newer 7 and 9 pin tubes. If you could get the 800 for around $150 that would be good. No need to keep the 177 if you get the 800.

Lou,
The seller wants $300 but I think that is too much for me for the added functionality. One sold on here the other day for $200. So I think $300 is a bit of a stretch.

Richard

Here's a couple of articles showing how to enhance the I-177 to test all the tubes supported by the model 6000.
