I'm working on a 15 tube Traveller. It's been recapped and plays great, but the audio sounds tinny as if the bass is being lost somewhere.

The schematic for this set doesn't exist so I can't troubleshoot it. I've replaced the cap (again) .1 mf that is connected to the tone control, but still no bass.

Any ideas?

Joe

Try it with another speaker.

Be sure coupling caps between audio stages are same as original values. These are caps from plate of one tube to grid of the next stage. Increase values if necessary.

A tone control reduces high frequency response. It's can't actually increase bass.

As glasdave said, try another speaker. If the cone is frozen you won't have enough bass.

Model 115 has 15 tubes:

Cathode resistor bypass capacitors dried out?

Usually in the plate stage of your audio output amp there will be the tone pot or resistor (already mentioned above) in series with a cap; I suspect the cap is bad. Somehow there's too much capacitance to ground most likely in the audio plate ckt., possibly the grid.

Correction on the last post: there's too LITTLE capacitance on the audio plate ckt.
