Ordered 200' of black antenna wire from an Ebay seller and received 200' of white with a helical gray stripe. If I hung that garish wire in my back yard I would be guilty of visual pollution. The seller's response to my complaint:

"SORRY ABOUT THAT. "ONLY THING DIFFERENT FROM MY DESCRIPTION IS THE COLOR. WE USED ALL OF THE BLACK AND NOW, "ARE SHIPPING ANOTHER MIXED COLOR. "IF YOU CAN'T USE IT, "SEND IT BACK AND I WILL REFUND YOUR ORIGINAL AMOUNT...THANKS"

Of course he has not offered to pay for the return shipping. As far as I am concerned the color substitution is a major difference from his description and I am considering holding the wire and filing a resolution complaint with Ebay asking for a refund of my original cost including shipping, plus the return shipping cost.

If I lose, I'll use it to make a lattice over my garden to scare the birds away from the strawberries. It might deter moose too.

He either owes you the black wire if that is what you paid for,
Or free shipping to return and ALL your dollars back.

From the ground looking upward, against a blue and white sky, that blue and white color would be superior. Would almost be invisible. Its why in WW2 they painted the tops of airplanes camo so they would be invisible sitting on the ground, and the underneaths bluish white so they would be invisible from the ground while flying in the sky. My guess is, the bulk of viewers of your antenna will be people looking up at it, not people looking down.

After chewing him out for the bait and switch, which is never acceptable on ebay or otherwise, keep the blue and white and be happy for your good fortune.

Choppergirl, thanks for your observation. You have a good point if the antenna was at an elevation of say 100' or more. But in my situation, the antenna will be 50' from my house and 30' is about as high as I can get it. At that altitude it will have a background of 100' spruce trees. Definitely a contrast. Of course I would like a higher antenna but the spruce limbs are are so dense that all attempts to hang a line with a crossbow have failed and there is lead in the trees waiting to drop at the most inopportune time. But this is off the topic.

Didn't know what a ballista is so I looked it up. Yeah, it would throw a 20# grappling hook, but the time and materials cost would be greater than just renting a cherry picker. Enough of this chatter in the wrong forum.
