Knobs look a tad off center. Maybe the cabinet is a transplant?

The Radiola 33 is a long horizontal "baby coffin" style set. It was just dropped into this cabinet and is listing to larbord a tad: pushing the set over a bit would center the knobs.

It's definitely a wanabeaconsole. Radiola 33's are small dog coffins...

Yes the coffin style box just sits in the back but I didn't ceter it when I put it in. The holes that are in the cabinet certainly look like they were put there to match the radio.

My guess it's an aftermarket cabinet made to fit just this set. The 33 advertisments show various cabinet styles, but not this one that I could see.

For some peculiar reason, I initially thought those were Vernier dials near the sides...

How about a look-see at the speaker?

Funny you should mention the Angry eyes, that is what my five year old said. I thought the cabinet was really nice and I have not seen one exactly like it before. It is all very heavy wood and not real cheaply made as some I have seen. The speaker is really cool looking with big coils mounted on the outside. I have never delt with a speaker this old. I was going to ask on these old coils does the enamel ever start disinigrating and then the coil short out? The speaker has two of those big coils and what looks to be a transformer box of some kind. The oldest radio I have ever repaired was a 1934 so this is all new territory for me.

Same sort of setup with this version of a radiola 60 - slides into the speaker cabinet:

And what sort of speaker would be in the cabinet? Vujà Dé:

There are some things written here on the forum regarding this special model of speaker...

That's great the cabinet not only looks similar in terms of how it is made the speaker is it's twin brother. Do you know what they refer to this speaker as (part number, nominclture....)? I would sure like to know how it is wired. The Radiola 33 in this set is in kind of rough shape and none of the wires are connected to the speaker. I am picking up a working Radiola17 this weekend and thought that it looks like it would slide right into this cabinet as well. It would be nice to find out if this speaker works??

That is funnt, what is the console sitting next to this radio in the picture. I looks very similar to my Canadian GE KL-66?

I don't recall what the speaker model is, but there is a handful of posts here on the forum in respect to it being used with Radiola 60's. I bet someone will chime up about it shortly...

I had one of those Gothic 33 cabinets once. I don't remember where it went, but I don't see it in the barn now so it must
have gone somewhere. This one would look somewhat better if the person who refinished it had ever heard of toner
(yeah, I know, they guy who did the Majestic on my book cover never heard of toner either, but I had no control over
the choice of photos).

Okay - that speaker is a RCA LS106. Good information to get you started in this thread:

And a lot more within this query:

Thanks for the info on the speaker. I guess I have some serious reading to do.

It's an aftermarket cabinet. Many furniture companies made them in the mid/late '20s to dress up an otherwise industrial looking radio.

Looks like the RCA 106 speaker. Plugs into the AC line. See the address below

Does anyone know where I could get the speaker wiring diagram for the RCA 106?
