I just picked this up. The bakelit is perfect not one scratch, chip, or other blemishes. The chassis is so clean it does not look like it was ever used. So since it's a battery unit, its a very nice table ornament. What can I do to get this to work? It's too nice not to use.

I cain't see it, I just cain't!
Like to see photos of the clean set.

You will need to either build a battery setup or a power supply.
Guys have used a series of 9v batteries for the HV, and D cells for the filaments.

Here are some pics Gary. All I had to do was polish with Meguiers Plastx and it shines like a new radio.

You can build a power supply that will work with many farm radios that just need a B+ and 1.5 V filament supply quite easily. I have used this one designed by Dennis Weiss with great success.

He even includes a parts list.

Does anyone actually use them with the vibrator and a battery? I have a set that I need to get working, but it has room inside for a fairly good sized 6V gel cell or the like, and those are easy enough to charge up. If it is a set you do not use constantly, that seems reasonable. Mine does not work but I can hear the vibrator humming. Not that loud or noticeable. I figured I might try using it with either a 6V power pack that can put out a few Amps or the battery, to keep it original versus going to the expense of some conversion. Anyone?

This set appears to be a 1.5V / 90V dry battery set. No vibrator.

I think if I had a vibrator "farm" set, I would keep it original, and run it off 6VDC. The vibrator hum is part of the fun. Might even be worth getting a repro Model A battery to sit on the floor. Add a vintage charger with a Tungar bulb, and I'd be all set.

This set has a cloth wire cord terminated with two big battery clips. The vibrator is just audible next to the radio but would be drowned out easily if you turned up to a normal volume. There is enough room next to the chassis behind the speaker to hide a decent sized gel battery and that is what I wanted to pursue. So I could have a AM/SW radio that is nuke and power loss resistant! And looks neat.

Are you sure? NA schematic for 4K422 shows four battery tubes, no vibrator, no big battery clips:

Wouldn't be first time NA got things scrambled.
