I will be going for my first time this year and i was wondering if anyones ever been and if there are radios record players and records there. Ive seen pictures and videos on youtube and i see that its mostly furniture (from what i can tell in the videos) While that might be good for some, I'm looking for tabletop radios and 45 players.

Cant Wait!!

There isn't something closer? Or are you already going to be in the area?

I have friends who go; you have to play games and get in early if you expect to find any bargains, and you also need to devote a week, one day to each of the separate fields. I haven't been myself in about 20 years.

The better radios disappeared back around year 2000, probably gone the way of Ebay. If you like furniture its the place for you. I haven't gone for awhile now, waste of time and gas. JMO If you like to browse and kick tires there's lots to see. Bring a flash light and get out early while they are unloading for the better stuff.

Flea Markets are not what they used to be. The pickings are slimmer due to that 4 lettered web site. You will have lots of competition looking for stuff. Some useful tidbits for shopping Brimfield comfortable shoes, rain coat, sunscreen, water, and of course money.(there are ATMs around) The July show is my least favorite cause of the heat.
Bruce will be running around there as many other New England collectors.
Good Luck

We haven't been there in 30 years. My sister lived near there so it was "go to Brimfield and say Hi to the sister". It was a great place then but tough to ship jukeboxes back to Arizona in those days.

Rooms got scarce around the whole area. We had rubber over shoes (or whatever they are called) and umbrellas and raincoats. We did not let rain stop us. As said be there early as possible for opening fields, be in good shape for miles of walking, get a good backpack, remember where you bought stuff if you don't take it with you and haggle prices. Watch out for Route 20 traffic. Several people have been hit crossing from field to field. It is HOT in July.

We stopped going when I heard some dealers talking about how they found a bunch of their stuff in California. Prices seemed a lot higher too.

Check out Renningers Extravaganza in PA. It was a favorite too. Have a ton of FUN!

My mother and aunt have been talking about it, so I might tag along. It looks like they'll be a lot to look at. The posts here don't look to promising, but you never know what might show up.
So if I go, it would be on Wed. I'll have on a blue and white Jackson Hole, Wyoming Hat (my "steppin' out" topper)- and to make it real easy to spot; I'll wear a 560 WCKL shirt.

I finally meet another AFR member! So I guess these people I've been talking to over the year(s) are not a trick of the "inner-nets"....they are indeed real.
Man that place was HUGE, there's no way to see it all in one day. I did run across a lot of radios, some a bit high, others not too out of line. (and a few junk) They definitely knew their business, and as far as I could see their were no "steals". I did manage to grab a bunch of tubes, and hondle the fellow down from $100 to $60. It could be good, I'll have to test them tonight. A Philco D655 for $10, and a pair of Alnico Magnetic No. 15 headphones for $5.
Now Cody, the question is: did you get the Westinghouse Fridge?..It was in mint condition..but the fellow didn't seem to budge on any of the prices, I found that out when I tried to get the little blue Airline for $5 (he actually looked a bit shocked at first. HA!)
Great to meet you,
Bob

Out of 30,000 people I can't believe we saw each other!! I passed on the Westinghouse fridge. It was in mint condition, but I want one to restore myself. Someone had already restored that one:( from that same guy I bought a little Fada radio for $40. In the brimfield barn I found a pile of 78's. After flipping through a few early acoustic recordings I saw something I had never seen before. It had a red label with a cross on it. I figured it was just another religious recording when apon closer inspection I saw that the cross was on fire!! It's a KKK record!! Side a is "why I'm a klansman" and side b is "the cross in the wildwood" both by the 100% Americans orchestra! I couldnt leave without it. It only cost me $3!!!! At one booth a guy had 2 tabletop radios, a silvertone and a Philco. Both under $25. I wish I bough at least one of them because the cabinets were so nice. Another radio that stuck out was a zenith shutter dial for $325 but the cabinet was rather tired. Other than that I saw a lot of overpriced radios. I will definatly be back for more next year!

Nice meeting you!!
Cody

I saw one mid century German console, didnt look to closely at it, there were a couple solid state portables. I also recall 1 stereo portable with detachable speakers. It was probably from '59 or '60 but the dealer wanted more than $100:(

Their were a lot more radios than I expected, and probably many more that I never made it to, or missed in the row upon row of booths. Their were wooden table tops, radio/record players, a couple of TRF battery sets, a red TO (R520? same face as the H500 but I didn't see any military markings) the guy wanted $275. A beat 8G005 (later model), a ton of plastic AA5's and a fair amount of Bakelite sets. The FADA that 13crhuber bought was real nice, the restored Westinghouse Fridge was mint, and the same guy also had a restored wooden TRF set (AC current not battery) for $125 that was also quite nice, but again, buying one already restored takes the fun out of it. Some prices were quite high, others not to bad, most sellers did seem willing to hondle.
And Cody I never found the guy with the box of knobs, but for that matter it took a while to find where we parked. Better yet we missed the turn to route 90 and ended up taking 20 West all through Springfield, a bunch of other towns, and 2 hours latter getting back on 90 in Lee. All in all the 3 hour trip ended up taking a little over 5 hours. HA!
IF NICK READS THIS: THERE WERE TONS OF FANS, but the prices looked sky high. The best was a Westinghouse for $75, and 2 booths down the guy had the same one, only he had the blades PAINTED GOLD, for $250. The same model Sterling ASU that I paid $12 or $14 dollars for at a local shop, was tagged for $45, and the condition was not much better. Needless to say, no fans took the ride home with me.
