in my search on the net to gain understanding on how to read and test CAPs I came across this guys method of testing caps using speakers that blew my mind.
not to say it is the right way but it is interesting to say the least

I don't think I would want him working on my equipment. When testing in circuit like this it really is a poor test.

Agree with easyrider. He's not much of a tech. You can do a much better and faster test with a good ESR meter. His testing method does not take into account circuit impedance; he doesn't even use the proper insulated clips. If he were testing caps in switch mode power supplies his tests would not be valid because of the limited frequencies used.

I wonder how many speakers and amplifiers he has damaged with charged capacitors.

The most relevant part of this test procedure is that is may prove that the test leads could possibly have continuity.
