I am looking for information on this radio. In addition to any information from anyone who has one or is familiar with this set, I would like help with identifying the correct knobs that I should look for, the closest grille cloth, and the coloration and toning/contrasting of the cabinet. Appreciate any help with this.

Welcome to the forum, here is your schematic,http://www.nostalgiaair.org/Resources/339/M0011339.htm. Original style grill cloth will be hard to find, easier to try a web search for"radio grill cloth", and find one that you like that way.

Place a WTB in the classifieds here, we have several members that deal in knobs.

Thanks Glasdave,

I have Riders and copied the schematic. What I would really like to see is a picture of one of these radios in original or near original condition. If I could see the way the cabinet looked I'd know what to do to this thing. Mine has been stripped and I don't know what the toning and coloration should be. I will probably stain it with walnut and will make it look like I think it should, but original picture would be a big help. Same thing with knobs.

The chassis has been mostly restored and I will deal with that later.

I appreciate your response.

Mark Oppatt in Michigan might have one of these and I hope to get something from him.

This looks to be an awesome set and will be a great addition to the collection.

Regards,

Joe

Sam,

Thank you very much. I got a clear picture of the kobs and have a good idea of how the cabinet should look.

I am now quite anxious to get this thing done and looking great.

Can't thank you enough.

Joe

No problem, Joe.
When you get tired of this old thing taking up room in the house, call me and I'll haul it away for you :)

Wow! What a collection!
Many thanks for the Airline information. I am thinking it will be near to impossible to find those knobs, but now I see what they look like. Great information and now I can see what the cabinet should look like. This was stripped years ago and is clean so I need to try to replicate what you have in your pictures.

This is great.

Regards.

Joe

I have the 12 tube, non chrome version. Wells Garner model 2CM. If I figured this out correctly, a before and after pic should accompany the post so you have another idea of how it looked originally.

Oh well. No pic, but at least a link to it.

Very interesting,

I have the W.G. model 6F (16 tube like the 62-197) It is in the exact same cabinet as your 12 tube model. Would it be possible to see a close up of the knobs? Mine were missing.

Sorry, no knobs or dial string when I bought it. I just realised I forgot to take a pic of the original grille cloth.

OK thanks,

I'm told that they take the same type of "barrel" knobs as the 62-197, possibly without the ring...
