Hi
You might try asking on Paul Stenning's forum in England.
http://www.vintage-radio.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl
Right now it's down but will be up soon.
Here is some information on the tube:
http://www.duncanamps.co.uk/cgi-bin/tdsl3.exe/show?SID=0002E3C224DAD37B&DES=EAF42
EAF42 is listed as 6CT7 but not used here in the US.
------------------
Norm

The EAF42 may work as an IF amp, but for a combination 2nd det/audio amp you would need a tube with a diode section in it.
Don't know the European version, but such a tube with a diode and pentode section is the 6SF7
------------------
Ken

The EAF 42 has a diode -
E: 6.3V filament
A: single diode
F: pentode
4: weird 8 pin base
does seem strange that a variable mu pentode would be used here - but didn't the later Philco 70s do that too? Probably no more distortion than a 6SQ7 with grid leak bias...
------------------
Hi
The tube line up ECH42, 2 x EAF42, AL41, AZ41 was used, so that wouldn't be the problem.
Your radio can be made by Geloso, Italy - this was a big radio manufacturer. All Geloso model numbers i know start with the letter "G" followed by a number. Do you something like that on chassis or the dial scale? Are the paper caps also made by Geloso?
If you need a typical schematic with that tube line up, just let me know.
Kind regards, Walter Haring, Switzerland
------------------
Hi Bill
Strange radio.... What you say about the markings (OC, PO, GO) leads to the conclusion, that this radio was made for the french speaking market (France, Belgium ...)
For the schematic, just give me your mail-adress.
Kind regards, Walter Haring
------------------
