WHO'S GOING????

One of two yearly premier events held by the Michigan Antique Radio Club, The Vintage Electronics Expo, will be Saturday, January 28th, 2017 at the Costick Center in Farmington Hills, Michigan 9am-3pm (28600 Eleven Mile Rd., just east of Middlebelt).

Last year we had over 500 attendees, and we are planning for more this year! Tables are still available.

I plan on attending, this will be my first radio meet since I missed going to the extravaganza in Kalamazoo in July. I don't know what to expect, hope it will be good. :D

I have read about most of the events that are taking place, but someone mentioned that there are radio contests without any details about what they are. Does anyone know?

Last year's winter meet was the first I was ever able to attend. I hope to make it again this year.

Definitely plan to attend. It's a double header weekend for me, radio show on Saturday, then Mopar swap meet at Gibraltar on Sunday.

My ' 73 was a Charger. I'm guessing I won't be able to recognize you at the expo from your picture - ha ha.

no..... I lost all my hair.

That Scamp had a 318 in it and would MOOOVE! Sadly, I had bias ply tires on it which with the MOPAR suspension would wildly jump from side to side in the truck ruts of I-75.

I might have assembled something on that engine. I worked at Mound Road Engine making 318's and 340's from 1972 to 1980.

A very strong report from the host/manager of the Winter Vintage Electronics Expo, looks like it might be a sell out on tables at this show. Its currently set for 112 tables but we have room for maybe 6 to 8 more, we'll see.

Current stats: 65 sellers, 105 tables, and 3 booths. I don't recall having this many tables tables reserved in a long time. I see a lot of new names in the list. <<<<<<

Currently the seminar on Record Player repair (1pm by past MARC President John Reinicke) is set on the floor of the Gym room but we have access to the stage, and may be able to bump it up there and create more seller tables spaces.

This is the largest winter show for vintage electronics in the Midwest. Last year 520 came thru the door, we are expecting to top 600 this year.

See the event site for more info http://www.thevee.org
I have said in the past that "seller tables can be bought at the door" but I cant say that now. Looks like you MUST reserve to be guaranteed a space. Sorry if I said that to anyone this year... I wont say it anymore.

Hope to see you all there and be sure to say HI at my space. I am along the south wall of the gym room. Lots of signs on the wall, you'll know its me. Lots of supplies : Capacitors, knobs, AC cords, chem sprays, etc, etc.

ANOTHER record setting show! Over 600 in the door, over $900 in the Bargain Auction and a near sell out of tables (130 or so with 4 more empty) !!! I was so busy at my booth I couldnt get away from it until after 2pm. Also, this show rocked solid all the way past 2pm when the Bargain Auction started with a record crowd of about 30 buyers there, and it ran well past the 3pm advertised show ending. Pix to come later.
THANKS to all who came and especially the MARC Board and wives who made it all happen. It was great seeing some ARF folks there too... I wish I had time to chat more... at some points I had like 3 people waiting to ask me questions. Lots of newbies came to this show.

Mark your callendars for July 13-15 2017 for the Summer Vintage Electronics Expo, Kalamazoo Expo Center. www.thevee.org will have info. Looks like some new estates will be coming in again so who knows what will show up !
The Gilmore Car Museum is nearby so make it a weekend trip if you can and stop over there too. I hear its fantastic.
There are several affordable motels at the exit near the show.

Yes I thought it was just terrific! The crowd was the largest I had seen for this show. I put 6 or 7 restored radios in the silent auction and was very happy with the result!

Thanks everyone for your attendance, participation, and hard work!

Fixed the date for you in the header.

It was a great show, as always. Lots of people there, many new faces, some that we usually expect to see were conspicuous by their absence. Being able to visit with people and talk about radios and everything else is an important feature of attending shows like this, as opposed to buying things online.

It didn't appear that as many people were buying as many things as in previous years, even though there were lots of lookers they weren't walking around carrying things they had purchased. There was a wide variety of things available, from radios to tubes and parts, records, test equipment and other related items.

It was a great show!

Lots of stuff, but I have to say, I was one who didn't buy as much this year.
I need to control myself, and I did just that.

Not one radio was taken home with me. Though I did buy a Sencore Oscilloscope, a Garrard changer and a bunch of parts.

I agree it was a great show but alas I walked out without a radio in my hands, only 1 Crosley knob. There just wasn't anything I saw that I couldn't live without.
