I have my RP-190 4a turntable partly disassembled.
I want to remove the Idler wheel so I can get it redone.
My question is: How do I get it off the shaft?
I can see the end of a spiral spring wrapped around the shaft. I have a parts manual and it shows the spring but not how to remove it.
Please help me before I do something stupid!
John
------------------
Someone may have a better idea but I use a thin blade inserted between the upper spring windings and slowly work my way around the shaft working the spring up. Once you get the spring up far enough you can give it a twist that will loosen it and bring it right off.
When you put it back together slide it back on with a twist and push it the rest of the way down with a flat blade. Leave a paper thickness of play so that the idler dosen't bind.
------------------
