You're right - they appear to be gone. Luckily I still had GildwersleeveFreed on the HD.

Hi Cliff-Listened to a few of the Phil Marlow PI and the Lucky Lady and a few others Thanksgiving night.

WOW the sound quality was MUCH better than I expected and was even stronger than most internet radio stations I stream.

2 thumbs WAY up. Gonna listen to some more Marlow tonight. Great service you are providing. Thank you.

Bruce

Thanks,

Most of my Philip Marlowes came from Radio Recorders 16" transcriptions, contracted by CBS. So they're higher quality recordings.

Remember, it's time to start the Cinnamon Bear (started on the 26th originally).

Copying and pasting from my original post:

And now, finally in plenty of time for Christmas, the Cinnamon Bear - I own 2 sets of ETs of this series - this is from Set 2. For those that aren't familiar with the series (see www.radioarchives.org) for their history of it on their Cinnamon Bear page. 26 15-minute episodes; a classic Christmas serial and still the best.

My ETs weren't in as consistently good condition as theirs - the FGRA set is the best out there and I encourage people to purchase theirs.

The Cinnamon Bear is in 3 zip files:

Thanks VERY much Cliff. Just downloaded the 50's Remotes.

Playing through my SStran to my Philco 551 Mantle Radio.

Really enjoying. Thanks for the great service to this site.

Best of Regards,
Bob T.

In case you didn't know, there's a lot more big band remotes, most of which are organized, a page or two ago on this thread. Enjoy!

Hi Cliff
Thanks so much for the Cinnamon Bear MP3 file
Downloaded it to CD. Its going to be played to the first grade class
in the local school between now and Christmas. Plan to transmit it to my Philco 20 Deluxe via an SSTRAN for the class to listen to.

The Teachers assistant is my neighbor, she seems excited about it.

I think she will enjoy it more than the kids.
Thanks for your good work Cliff.

Bob T.

Bump - Cinnamon Bear's still available, although you'd have to do some marathon sessions to finish by XMAS.

Been a while since I posted anything - is there any demand for some shows that I just transferred from disc - Dragnet, Dick Tracy, etc?

That would be great Cliff. I like most all of the old detective shows and would appreciate hearing any of them.

Thanks for the generous offer!

Ok - I'll get some up within the week.

I just freshly transferred those. I noticed the discs were deteriorating, and I managed to stabilize most of them. I had dubbed them a few years back on my $500 table, which was fine, but I felt they deserved an archival dub on the Rondine 3, so I freshly dubbed them. The Dick Tracy wasn't deteriorating, but it was one of the first ETs I had ever got, so it was always a favorite.

Here's said files:

The Ellery Queen was about the same as it was in 2001 after the base bath ( a mixture of 409 and distilled water). Unfortunately, it had a very resistant palmitic acid.

Hi Cliff- I'm with Hawkcigar. I've been working through the Marlow shows and really like the old detective ones too.

BTW-Mr Hawkcigar got a personal tour of the Moline Bruce collection last year and got to see your radios you bought while he was there too.

Thanks

Bruce

I'm listening to one of the Dragnet episodes now and the sound is really amazing! It's really clear, not scratchy at all.

Yes Cliff, I had a chance to see your radios while I was touring the Moline Bruce collection. I'm envious as you have some very nice radios.

O.T. Hey Bruce are you still moving back to Moline? We're getting some more snow tonight.

Hi Bruce & Hawk - thanks for the compliments. The ETs were transferred on a top-of-the-line turntable and cleaned up with a pro grade sound restoration software. People are usually amazed when they hear a from ET (assuming it was well-recorded) show that's been transferred competently, because it is a huge difference than a lot of the mud (multi-generational, improperly re-equalized, offspeed) that's out there. So, it wasn't anything too special on my part, all I had to do was transfer the disc properly and clean it up a little. The sound was already there.

Been a while since I posted - here's a great rarity - the musical mystery "A Voice in the Night". The discs were coated in a heavy palmitic acid coating, and the edges were flaking. Luckily it cleaned up easily and nothing was missing from the show.
