At the Pittsburgh Antique Radio Fest meet / sale / auction yesterday auctioneer Rich Estes had a flyer for his upcoming sale...which includes a CT-100.

http://www.estesauctions.com/April262008page1.html

According to one of the auction helpers, they said that it is believed that the CRT is under vacuum. Wonder what it will bring?

Lots of other nice items in the auction, too!

By the way, if you are in eastern OH, western PA, WVA, western MD, etc...and you missed the Tri-State Radio Fest yesterday, mark your calendars for next year. Great turnout, nice auction, lots of good conversation.

That would be quite the find if the picture tube is good. I think there are only what, like 20 of those that have good tubes? Another thing I wonder - how long lived were these tubes? I mean, we all know that 15GP22's go to air because of the metal/glass seal failing, but how reliable are they otherwise? If the tube is still under vacuum, what are the chances that it still has good emissions?

Of course, if you get to the auction and there is an Electrolux sitting on top of the set, then the statement "CRT is under vacuum" would still be technically correct, albiet somewhat less helpful.

That's a great line! I've got to remember that for the next time I need to advertise a TV with a busted CRT... :)

I would also check around there to see if there are some cans of that reeeeaaalllly good NOS hard vacuum available at that sale to go along with it.

It looks nice. Maybe I should...no, NO!

I've got too much on my plate as it is.

Still...?

This should bring the "big dogs" out; Me, I'll have to stay on the porch! Now, if this showed up at the local auction barn on Thursday night, then I might have a chance...will be very interesting to see what this sells for.

Sorry for being stupid but was this CRT one with a metal bell? That might explain the metal to glass failure. I never knew if a color set had a metal tube...

I was confused about this model as well until recently. The 15GP22 is glass but the faceplate is a complicated, multi-part metal/glass design which is prone to leakage. They then came up with simpler designs for mounting the shadow mask; the first 21" color tube, the 21AXP22, was metal/glass and while it seems to be more prone to leaks than all glass tubes it does have a much better track record than the 15GP22.

Now that makes sense. I didn't understand the metal/glass bond issue without it having a metal bell.

This thread is a little old, did anyone end up getting the CT-100?

When I saw this topic in the list, I did the first required step: "Check the date on the first post". Ahh, 2008. This is not coming up in four months, it did almost four years ago...

I do not remember details of this TV at that time.

I wonder what dragged this old post up...every now and then I dream of finding one of these...then the dilemma...keep it or sell it?

I probably won't have to face such a problem.

I was Google searching for CT-100 stuff late one night, and came across it. I brought it back up, because I don't remember hearing what happened to the set in question or who it went to.

You never know, I got lucky with my CT-100 5 minutes after walking in the door from work one night. Checked Ebay, there it was. Or rather there the picture tube was, I got lucky the seller hadn't parted the rest of it out yet. Yours is probably still out there somewhere... :D

Yep, mine came up both nearby and at a price I could afford to pay.
