All rare stuff; mostly 1930s, and all previously uncirculated. Two eps. of the 1930s mystery serial Lord Weejie and Miss Duck, the first two episodes to surface from the circa 1932 jungle adventure show Captain Jack, and a 1945 episode of the rare mystery series Father Brown Mysteries.

I don't know how I missed these, Cliff. They're pretty groundbreaking for a Gildersleeve fan! The Doye O'Dell episode has been a major thorn in the side of collectors for years. For a long time a copy has been circulating which has an early-1940s opening and close grafted onto it, and the show, itself, was of horrific quality. This is not only the first time it's been heard with a correct opening and close, but the first time it's been heard with this level of audio quality. It's just incredible!
The half episode is totally new, as is the episode in which Judge Hooker returns from Europe. Amazing!
Thanks very much!

Cliff,
just posting to say that you have posted some amazing programmes her. I have listened to a few and they have been fantastic and thanks for posting them. I did want to ask ....do you have any Kate Smith show programmes from the late 1930's. In my collection of ETs I have a number of portions from these shows on acetate disk and the shows sound fatastic. However I am not aware that full recordings of any of her shows from this period exist. But if they did then I would love to hear them.

There's a few - see www.radiogoldindex.com. I don't have any, though - at least, not lo-gen ones. I dimly recall a reel, but it wasn't in good sound, and I don't know if I transferred it or not.

It's been a while - but here's a new upload from fresh finds. All these are rare or one-of-a-kind. The Cass Daley Show, from 1950, taken from deteriorating discs. There's the Claude Thornhill All Navy Show, from the Mosquito Network, around the Guadalcanal area. That's the first I've heard anything from that. There's the audition for This is Jazz, which featured the artists on Eddie Condon's Jazz concerts. There's also two episodes of the rare and obscure 1930s Transco syndicated musical show Rhapsody in Rhythm.

Upon a re-listen, Cass Daley - 500727 has an error - a minute of overlap. The discs were cracking and peeling, so I had to piece together several parts of the show, and evidently I neglected to delete that. I was fooled by the 29:16 run time, which would have been close to what the complete show would have been. I don't feel like re-uploading the entire pack, so people will have to live with a minute of overlap on this copy.

As far as I know, this show hasn't been released yet - it's an early Fred Allen from his lost series The Salad Bowl Revue. This came from bare aluminum discs - the songs were excised orginally to save the cost of recording; very common on bare aluminum recordings.

Cliff;
I haven't read each post on this most welcome thread, but is there a central location where an index is located to download from ?
Or a master file location ?

I may be wrong, but unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be an index page at mediafire.

Cliff,
I just listened to the Red Ryder not-meant-for-broadcast satire. Very good, quite amusing. If I'm reading your dating format correctly this was performed February 4 1944. Wow, there's a lot of neat stuff here!

i loved the old dragnet shows. contrary to popular opinion, i thought jack webb was pretty cool. he had three well-written private-eye shows in the late 40s and a short-lived comedy/variety show that sounded as though the writers were smoking mexican rope. in the dragnet radio show, joe friday was a bachelor who lived at home with his mom, and was so helpless in one episode when she was out of town that his married partner had to bring groceries over and cook for him. this was all taken in stride, not played for comic effect, just straight. cool backstory stuff.

Cliff, these are great! I just downloaded 460214 - Lucky Lady and have never heard a program so clearly. I salute your efforts to preserve these wonderful programs. I especially love all the mystery programs and cant wait to hear them thru my old radios.
Thanks, Donnie
