Hi all,
Just got a TS-505 mil vtvm, and need some help: it is missing the matching lid that snaps over the front. I believe that the lid also held the RF probe or adaptors? So I am also missing that too. It is a TS-505 D/U, but I have a TS-505 A/U manual, is there any significant changes in the circuitry ? Any help on where I might be able to locate the parts to complete this good old meter and get it up and running would be most sincerely appreciated ! Thanks,.......Tom

There should be 2 spare crystal diodes for the RF detector probe mounted inside the unit. These are the only hard to find parts for the electrical items that you are missing.
There are spare fuses also mounted inside the unit.

To signalcorpsoperator: I was just ready to part out an old TS-505D/U. It looks like it was dragged behind a jeep on D-Day.
Its missing: all leads , the lid , all probes and I think the metermovement is bad.
I opened the meter to remove the switches and the resistors only to find that the insides looked brand new!!! I didn't have the heart to part it out,I know how hard it is to find parts for older gear. It's yours for the price of shipping from 45764. kta8uhx

Hi there ---
Sorry about the lag in posting here, I have been quite busy.....
What is the approximate size for that lid, dimensions, weight etc... ?
I agree, a lot of the meters that are hideous on the outside are immaculate on the inside ! Mine is not too bad, but a touch up here and there with paint would not hurt it at all. I have to re-probe mine, anybody else in the same pickle ? BTW - my ZIP code is 97218, if that helps...... Thanks !
Tom

To kta8uhx, signalcorpsoperator, or anyone else with a parts TS-505. Does anyone have a spare DC probe? I’m the ecstatic owner or a ‘new’ TS-505C/U after starting a hunt a couple of weeks ago. After some time with modern DVM’s, I really wanted one that is fixable when an issue arises. This one instantly validated my decision; ohms didn’t measure correctly, and identifying/replacing the selenium rectifier took all of about 15 minutes.
The meter is in good shape, but the DC probe has definitely seen better days! If any one has a spare from a parts unit, please contact me. Otherwise, I might try fabricating one.
Regards, Mc Kd4bth

About that DC probe request... nevermind. I am really and truly enjoying this piece of test equipment. The DC probe was in rough shape, but making another is certainly easy enough. Regards, Stan kd4bth

Tom I have a tech manual that covers all four models. Here is a link to a scan of the pace that explanes the differences in the models. I have the c model meter with lid and no RF probe. http://www.isurffish.com/arf/pdf/ts-505-001.pdfIf you need any more info let me know. Harold
