Hi,
I am making the back panel that belongs on the RCA-Victor 4X3 set. Would someone have one with the original back on it? I would like a good picture of what it looks like. I want mine to look as authentic as possible!
Thanks, Andy |

I am sure people read your post but may not have had the radio. Please be patient. Maybe I am mistake, but did you get some help??
The only photo of that set and the same chassis 4X I can find didn't have a back on it. Are you certain it had one? |

Some of the RCA sets of that era came in transformer-type versions as well as AC/DC versions (like the 4X3). There's AC/DC versions of the 5T, 6T, 7T type for instance that DO indeed have a back.
They're scarcely seen compared to the transformer models.
Little help that is because I have no picture to offer for the 4X3. |

Hi,
I appreciate your concern. I want you all to know. I found my help from a man in Brazil that has the RCA 4X3 in original condition. I have fabricated a new back panel with mahogany veneer. It looks great! I love this forum! I am sure I will have new posts to come!
Thanks Again, Andy |

Hi Andy,
These sets are very nice looking. The 4X and the 4X3.
I am glad you found an image for the back. As stated, many older sets did not come with a back, but yours is an exception.
If it's not too difficult, can you post a photo of the one the fellow in Brasil sent you, and or your own? You never know when another member may come across one of thse sets, and need a back.
I try to save this kind of thing on disc.
Take care,
Gary. |

This set is supposed to have a back, the speaker is in the back. Should be an AA5 with a resistance cord (ie "curtain burner") and a candohm mounted on the top of the chassis. Should also have a shortwave band and dial lamps that change which band is lit up as you turn the bandswitch. I'd have shown you mine, but I'm in the midst of rebuilding the cabinet.
This set has a special place in my heart as it's the first radio I worked on to give me a shock. _________________ Michael T. Downes |

Hi Gary,
I sent you the links to the pictures of the RCA 4X3 for you to post if you like? I have not gotten the picture posting process to work for me yet. I am disappointed about that. Something I am missing here? This radio is Broadcast (AM) only. One lamp. A very basic set.

Hi guys, Andy sent these, sorry for the delay in getting them posted.
Are there vents in the cabinet to vet the heat out and draw air in??
Andy, with each link you sent, al you needed to do was add the tags on each side of the address.
