CONTEST RULES

The following is an overview of the contest rules:

1. Items which have previously won an award in a MARC contest within the last year may not be entered.

2. A contestent may enter only one item pre category. If a contestant does enter more than one item in any category, the judges will only judge the item which they believe has the most merit.

3. Items must be entered in the category most appropiate for that item. The judges reserve the right to move an item to the most appropiate category in their opinion, if necessary.

4. Judges award points as follows:

      Rarity, 1-5 points
      Condition, 1-5 points
      Collector Appeal, 0-5 points
Documentation, 0-2 points (one judge only)

Notes: "Collector Appeal" is a comparison between all items entered in each category such that the most desirable item receives 5 points, the second most desirable 4 points, etc. Beyond the five most desirable items in each category each entry receives 0 points for collector appeal. This score is not affected necessarily by rarity or condition, but is more a measure of other factors which affect collectibility such as eye appeal, color, value and size.

Points awarded by each judge are added up at the end of the judging to arrive at a score for each item. The item with the highest score in each category finishes first; second highest finishes second; and the third highest score finishes third.

Judges and contest officials may have contest entries but can not act as judge or attempt to ionfluence the judging in those categories. MARC takes every precaution to be fair, but realizes that as hard as we try, we can't please everyone.
