I don't have the manual, but I have had a couple 780-Ys and seen quite a few more. They were domestic consumption. X and Y were just cabinet variations. I would assume C was, as well.

This is the 780-Y. The X, of course, is the radio from "A Christmas Story."

Got a picture of the C?

Good Day Gentlemen:

I am just getting used to using forum type applications...so I have a bit to learn. As an IT guy, I have I have set these up on a server but seldom if every actually use the app.

Not sure if I should answer each post separately or as I doing today...all in one!

If I have done this correctly a photo of the 780C should be attached. It is a table model.

Bruce that is the document I believe I am seeking... so I will send you a email shortly.

thank you for your help

HI 1967ers:

I have rebuilt several radios...this was a family radio! As a kid I can remember listening to NHL hockey (only 6 teams then). Lone Ranger and other programs on this radio. As with many old radio's most of the documentations is very generic. When complete I will have a good data package for this radio.

The info Bruce provided (RS-207) I also determined that 780-A is also a table model, most likely West. USA. If I recall Westinghouse had three Divisions. Canadian, USA and Int'l Div.

The data package will be available at Radiomuseum once I have completed the rebuild and documented the 780-C including a rebuilt schematic and many photos. So far, I have 13 significant difference and that doesn't include all the circuit disignations. i.e. in one model a Cap might be labeled C29 on the X model but it maybe C39 on the C model. It has been a challenge...but to me that is part of the fun! This one is not for faint at heart :P

Good news its working...mostly cosmetic and final alignment to be completed

Thanks for your interest

Hi all! I have both the 780X and the 780Y. I know the X model was in the original Christmas Story movie however in my opinion the Y is a nicer looking radio. What do you think? Mitchell N Hamilton Ontario CANADA
