I finally got around to painting the cabinet on this little Zenith, I had the electrical repair done for a while. I used CitriStrip to remove the old paint, and used Rustoleum Almond for the new paint. I was pretty happy with the way it looked after the first coat, though there were a couple of areas that needed a bit more paint, so I added a second coat. The second coat left it looking a bit worse than the first...after the paint has had time to cure, I will try a little rubbing compound on it. In terms of the electrical restoration, it was a little tight working in the Bakelite chassis, but not terribly bad. Great reception, and sounds very good. I am now on a quest for another radio with an upside down chassis Russ

Great job Russ, very pretty.
I like the look of the dial, it resembles a speedometer with an odometer.

That looks great! Interestingly, the four stations whose call letters are shown on the tags were on the air here in upstate NY when the radio was built and are still on the air on with their original call letters and frequencies.

Thanks all, I appreciate the comments! This radio has certainly become one of my favorites. Dave Doughty wrote: That looks great! Dave When the radio arrived I had checked into that myself and I was surprised to see that they were all on the air. I have tuned local stations in on the push buttons, but would never consider changing the tags. Dave, thanks again for making this radio available to me. Russ
