Hello all, new to the forum here. My computer illiterate Dad just picked up a General electric G-106. He hasn't plugged it in yet (kind of afraid to), but he's trying to decide what to do with it. Is it worth restoring? If so, is this something he could tackle himself if I point him in the right direction? What's it worth approximately? I think it looks really cool, and the small amount of research I've done on it makes it sound kind of rare. Thanks for any input or advice in advance!

There is a two page thread here discussing your radio.

Can't you show your father how to navigate this forum... :)
Maybe he would like to talk to us.

Greg.

oh... Do not plug it in until it has been serviced.

I'm showing him responses and what on find on the internet. I've showed him Google at least a dozen times. Still doesn't get it. Lol

Also, he paid $40 for it, and expressed interest in selling it to me if I want it. I think it's a cool looking piece, so what would be a fair price to offer him for it. Obliviously I don't want to rip him off.

I'm not an expert on pricing by any means...

General Electric radios are not as collectible as some other makes!
Having said that - - this radio was state-of-the-art in 1938

If I wanted it today, I would be happy to pay $600.00
It would be best to have another opinion from someone stateside... :)
Greg.
