Its a Zenith 6s249 chairside. A full checkup and recap will be happening soon.

The cabinet is in great shape. All I did to it was give it a wipe down with some Olde English oil.

Thanks. People must have actually used coasters for their drinks. I don't see any circles on the top.

That looks like a nice original example of that model. Great find.

I was talking to a guy with some experience restoring chairside radios, and he commented on seeing a few that had coffee, soda pop and who knows what spilled onto the dials and dribbled down into the works. It seems to me, that for them to be a very usable table, they should have been made with a solid glass top, or with the knobs and dials, sealed somehow with rubber washers or gaskets.

I had this 9S244 once; gave it back to my son who found it originally at a garage sale. Cabinet & the shutterdial were a mess/basket case; I took it completely apart. But it restored nicely. Played great...and still does over 20 years later.

Here she is, all restored, and up and running. Kinda looks the same. 8) Recapped, new belt, some new resistors and the full proctology exam.

She sounds good. Not as good as the radio behind it, but that's not a fair comparison. 8)
