Post subject:  Philco Tropic B806, looking for schematic/service manual

Hello!

I'm trying the restoration of a Philco Tropic model B806. There are plenty of pictures of the set online, but no such luck regarding the schematics or service manual.

It is similar to the 46-806 model, but for example the IF cans are different.

I know it's made by Philco (Overseas) LTD, Great Britain, features SW and MW with its IF set to 465kHz.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

All the best.

Take a gander at this two band U.K. chassis...
MW (medium wave) aka AM BCB
and LW (longwave)

Hi, Greg.

Thanks for the link. It is very similar but there are a few differences. For example there’s an extra coil next to L2, just above the tuning capacitor, and there’s no C28.

This radio was found at a chicken coop :) , that’s why it’s a challenge. It’s in a really bad shape and I believe some reverse engineering will come in handy to understand all the wiring before going bare metal. I’ll take the schematic as reference for the job.

Thanks again.
