 Post subject: Purpose of an insulated wire wound around a capacitor lead

I have a Lafayette E29 which is an AA5 with a PM speaker. I was wondering what the function is of an insulated wire coming from the cathode of the 35Z5 and wraps around a lead wire of the .05 capacitor that feeds the grid of the 12SQ7 from the volume control.

WAG, its a way of introducing AC coupling to negate residual hum in the output...

I agree. There was probably too much ripple voltage on the B+ with the original electrolytic caps. The wire is similar to a gimmick capacitor to cancel out the hum. It will probably not be needed with new electrolytic caps.
