I have this 1939 Kadette “Topper. Just re-capped and Re-resistored. I’m up in the air on keeping or selling. But it is interesting looking little guy.

I suspect this was a prototype. This would have been cool.

They're cute but aggravating. I was seeking a pic of a Canadian "Topper", named for the radio/movie character?
A mystery radio in an Arvin cabinet.
Searching the web for a Topper radio, nothing but Kadettes. :x

You have to know that it's a "Northern Electric Topper" to get a few hits.

Anyway, congrats y'all on your Toppers.

I finished my "Topper" restoration almost exactly four years ago. Works well and is on display in my basement.

It's the last radio of the Kadette brand. Not very common sets.

So. If I wanted to sell it. What would it be worth?

I sold mine about five years ago, ivory/ivory, no cracks, but some gray stress marks for $750.

That sounds about right. I had that set on my "list" when I first started to collect radios, but took it off when I learned how pricey they are! One of the most sought-after bakelite radios. It's amazing how rather plain it is, yet it has a very appealing deco-chic. I'd still love to have one.

Give it to some relative who can appreciate old radios and remember you after you are gone?
