 Post subject: restoration tip speaker with decayed leather surround

In cases where the leather is failed I have been successful replacing with felt. I cut a circle with the outside diameter the same as the speaker. Cut the inside diameter such that it is an inch wide from outside to inside. I use silicone to attach the inside circle to the speaker cone and let cure over night. The next day I apply silicone to the speaker frame at its edge and press the outer edge of felt into the silicone, let it cure overnight and you will have a good sounding speaker.

You can see my method of attaching a surround in this thread where I made a new cone for a Magnavox speaker for a Sparton.

Unfortunately, all the images are reversed from their original sequence. :(
