For about $30 a tunable loop antenna from Kaito AN-100 is incredible for 550 to 1700kHz. I used a long wire of about 30 feet. Noise was so bad in my area I could only hear one station 1/2 a mile away. With the loop antenna I can null out most noise and I went from 1 to 15 stations heard during the day on the AM broadcast band.

I've been wanting to pick up a loop antenna sounds like your really pleased with yours, I'm thinking of building my own as well.
Seems $30.00 is an ok way to go?

I picked up one of these to try:

I made a $14 offer that was accepted. So, total with shipping was $24. It comes from Hong Kong in a plain, white box but looks legit.
I havent yet had a chance to check it out though.

Grundig AN200, Tecsun AN200, Kaito AN 100, Select-A-Tenna, they're all virtually the same. If you roll your own, however, it's less expensive, and you can develop better RF gain.

I made a tunable loop using a 23" wood quilting hoop, insulated lead in wire from a Rat Shack outdoor antenna kit, and a tuner from a junked AA5. Better reception & nulling ability than my store bought Grundig or Select.

I have a 65' outdoor antenna about 25' high feeding a Terk Indoor AM Antenna ADVANTAGE. It works really, really well when placed next to an AM radio with an internal antenna through the magic of inductance coupling.
