I have a 3 amp fan speed controller and was wondering if it would work for adjusting voltage on radios for test/repair.
Thanks

Hard to say unless you give some details. What type of fan is this controller for? Make, model etc.

Probably not. Triac or SCR controls work by cutting off part of each AC cycle - reducing the average power while peak voltage stays the same. And as you turn it down, peak current may go UP rather than down... not to mention how such controls may have problems with inductive loads like transformers.. The humble light bulb is a good current limiter for starting up a radio in unknown condition. And a glowing bulb is a friendlier short circuit indication than having the lights go out.

Probably not.

If its a triac type controller, it will make so much noise on the power line, the radio will be unusable. The living room lights on a dimmer used to completely hash everything coming out of my Maggie.

That's just in the same building, not even on the incoming power to the radio.
