Check this out. I ordered a nine pin tube and it came in a plastic bag inside of a piece of PVC, with a rubber band to keep i t in place.

I had somebody send me stuff in a ziplock bag all wrapped very tightly with packing tape to compress it all together and keep the tubes from banging against one another. that was packed in bubble wrap. surprisingly this strange method didn't involve any of the tubes breaking.
