Removing the "Newer-Style" General Radio Knobs

Post by diskcopy »

The newer General Radio knobs (without a set screw) are held on control shafts by a spring. Removing them can be a pain in the you-know-what. I found that an easy way to remove them is to shimmy a plastic card, such as a credit card, under the side of the knob that doesn't have the spring. The card can then be rotated under the base of the knob to put pressure directly under the spring and relaese it.

You can use a comb too because it has a taper.
