Uncommon early FM radio in nice condition - worth saving.

Note the serial number 500034 - possibly the 34th one made.

Interesting. That model is not listed in RadioMuseum, but there is a similar radio listed, the table model FM-51. A 14-tube table model! That must be a huge radio.
https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/freed_eise_51_2.html

In the back photo of this FM-55, you can see it has a separate power supply, and in the photo of the tube label, you can see this console is an 18-tube beastie! Nice.

That is such an unusual looking console. First one I've ever seen and it wouldn't surprise me if it's the only one I'll ever see. Even though it's refinished and the grill cloth replaced, it's definitely worth getting for it's rarity and uniqueness.

Looks like they misplaced a couple photos.

Wow, i do like this one!
There sure is a confusion of model numbers for Freed FM sets.

I have an FM-40 that has FM-42 on the model tag.

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=248444&start=20

Was this a factory error? Chassis swap? Hard to say.

Thanks for posting the ads Norman! Its nice to see what Freed was offering :D

Wow! That's good news Steve. I'm glad you were able to grab it. And kudos to Wiscojim for helping out.

The docs Norman posted indicate a "third band for foreign short waves" was available as model FM-55X, so perhaps this is a 55X even though tagged as FM-55.

Thanks guys! :D it is added to my growing Freed Eisemann collection.

i have seen very few without the SW band, but the FM 40 i have which has FM 42 on the tag does lack the SW band.
