The Scott Allwave 27 (Lot 90) is pretty cool. I haven't heard it called a Quaranta 19 before. :?:

This discription pretty much tells you what the train of thought was, at the time, when the title was made up. A better title would have been "Scott Baby Quaranta" or "Scott AW-27".

That Scott AW-27 is super rare with maybe 20 sets documented currently and no history of ads or documentation back when they were new.
It is current thinking the AW-27 was a transition radio prior to the into of the 30 tube Philharmonic as its basically an AW-23
with a built in volume range expander and 1st use of tuning eyes in a Scott. Not sure who all these Scotts came from but it's a nice selection.

Hello guys,
that last time i placed some bids at this auction most of the sets went for crazy prices and for me I won't waste my time to overpay for an item .

Sincerely Richard

Estes does have a long history of being able to attract bidders willing to pay top prices for an item, which of course is what the sellers who consign radios to them are looking for. They also do well in getting people to consign interesting, unique, and high end sets. I know several older collectors who have already advised their family to send their collection to Estes after they have passed away.

Hmmm, doesn't this site come to mind when you view the auction?

http://johnjeanantiqueradio.com/

There is an extensive Emerson collection much like Jean's in this auction.

That idea popped into my head too but I didn't want to jump to any conclusions. I wouldn't mind learning the provenance of the sets in the auction though

Lots of nice Emerson radios in this Estes Auction. Not Jean's radios. I did go through the entire list this morning looking for Emerson's that Jean doesn't have in her collection. Her Birthday coming up shortly. I Didn't find ANY New Ones for her. Direct link to Jean's collection is http://johnjeanantiqueradio.com/emerson.html

WILD GUESS on my part there is / was a guy I think in NC who has many times also been a bidder on Many Emerson auctions. Usually I won but sometimes he won. So he might be a possibility of who consigned this stash to Estes. Lots of nice radios in this auction. Jean and I will probably Croak owning our collections. And yes there is a note in bank box for the estate Executors Estes #1 and Schulman #2 possibles.

I am still looking for an Emerson Chassis either a C or a D or even an M. They are available in several consoles plus in C134 D134 C140 or D140 models. See my AD in classifieds. https://antiqueradios.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=412918 pictures as well as all the possible model numbers for those chassis. The one lead I picked up there... no reply from seller after several tries on my part. Probably sold but the seller never bothered to remove the AD from Craigslist. Phooey Still looking.

Lots of great stuff there, does having so much good stuff in one auction depress prices?

Hello Guys,
the last time I tried winning a bid at this auction the prices went far out what I expect to pay for a radio because Say if I win a radio for $300. then you pay them their fee and then tax plus shipping and shipping is crazy right now .
I did see some nice Emersons thou .

Sincerely Richard

Estes does tend to attract high end bidders because of
their reputation. Also, being they opened their auctions to
online bidding, you can expect way more competition for
a set you're interested in. You'll certainly find the more
unique sets there, but be prepared for the fees, shipping
costs, taxes, shipping delays, damage etc.

Hammer Prices for all 255 Items sold at Estes Yesterday.
https://www.auctionzip.com/auction-catalog/vintage-collector-radios-related-advertising-auct_F9L5I7J4GM?pageNum=1

Almost every radio at the auction was in nice condition. Many like me were setting at home bidding through Auction.ZIP So add 15% to the hammer prices. And most of those will also pay pack and shipping fees. It was amazing just how many of the radios were sold through the OnLine systems. Plus lots of bidding action from the floor.. those who were present at the auction.

Yesterday I was a BUYER in the June 4th 2022 Estes Auction. Not a seller. Jean found 4 Emerson's she didn't have in her collection. I ended up only buying two of them. She said NO on the other two due to the price. I won Item #69 Emerson model BU229 and Item #149 Emerson model 33 AW. OUCH The prices on those two were what I expected. The other two Jean said NO so I quit bidding on them. Pictures below of the two we bought. Yes setting on our kitchen table. Both cabinets need a bit of work. Jean will take care of that part.

Prices look all over the place to me, the high end stuff went high, while the other items went for good prices.
