I've never understood the logic of sellers whose auctions expire without a single bid and then relist at a higher price. That happened with an item I was interested in. The sellers starting bid was too high for the item in question and it had few if any watchers. I made a good, realistic offer (probably a bit on the high side considering the condition of the item) and was turned down. When the auction ended, it was relisted at a higher starting bid.

The logic of "Perceived Value". If an item is priced too low it won't sell. I remember it well from my marketing classes.

I've seen some sellers raise their price during the weekend, then lower them during the week.

Sounds like a retailer pricing rase price and market on sale. If does not sell then market down to first and say price reduction.
Unless you are a price watcher.

I don't think that really works with 20s radios.

I've read one sales tactic where an item is put up for auction, doesn't sell, and then is offered as a BIN at a higher price than the auction starting bid was, and sells quickly.

I don't understand the logic, but it supposedly works.

I did myself the same sometimes. I think that some potential buyers simply don't like to wait for an auction to end and maybe loose the item because of an higher offer, while they can get interested if the proposed BIN price for the same item looks acceptable. I also add the "Make an offer" button, just to give the potential buyer a way to propose a lower price. I myself do not like auctions that much.

Me: OK, here's one that costs less. She: Must be something wrong with it. :D
