Friday, Nov 2 and Saturday Nov 3 from 9am to 4pm both days is the estate sale of a past member of the
Antique Radio Club of Schenectady. There are several boat anchor receivers, many with matching speakers.
Table, console, and transistor sets. Tubes and parts. Tube testers. Tools. Lots of stuff.

Some photos below, more photos will be available soon on these two sites:
< http://www.houseofroseantiques.com > & < http://www.estatesales.net >

Sale will be at 245 Potter Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

I have no connection to the sale. I'm just helping his daughter.

Al

Lovely radios, what a collection!

Did the tape on the wood make anybody else cringe?

Painter's tape can pull old photo finish off. I know from experience.

That's one of the nicest RCA 812K consoles that I've ever seen.

I can't believe the incredible ignorance and callousness that the sale organizer ( House of Rose Antiques ) showed towards many of those antique radios by directly taping those ID tags right smack onto their wooden cabinets. I can imagine many of those wooden radios leaving that auction with large bald spots, on their cabinets, resulting from the brute removal of the tape and the ripping off the 80+ year old finishes, bald spots that should never should existed in the first place. Hopefully the buyers will show more intelligence in removing those tags. Best to soak the tape with "Goo Gone" in order to soften the glue and gently remove the tape without pulling off the finish. Hopefully someone will address this problem directly to the organizers ( House of Rose Antiques ) of this sale.

This is shameful.

This is what House of Rose Antiques should have used as ID tags. Non destructive tags.

I believe its an HRO Jr. as it does not have a panel meter in the upper left corner.

I agree on the painters tape. Not a very good idea…. Even Post-It notes will pull off a finish.

That legless Atwater Kent console looks as if it has the grill cloth out of a 1942 Zenith 12-H-670.

Speaking of the legless Atwater Kent, I used to have a model like that.

But, mine had longer legs (and, yeah Steve, different grill cloth). Maybe this one is a different model with shorter legs by design. Or, maybe the angle of the photo is faking me out. But, inquiring minds want to know: Did someone cut the legs off?

The photos for the sale are now at this link. < https://www.estatesales.net/NY/Amsterdam/12010/2049696 >

I agree with all of you about the tape, I own radios that were damaged in that way. The longer it is on, the
worse the damage. So maybe these radios will have a chance.

If you look close at the AK legs, you can see wheels that were added at some time in its life.

looks like painters tape... FROG brand tape is green and it is gentle... not to worry.
