Auction will end today on the Goodwill website! 23 of the 7119 tubes, which are going for $50 on most commercial sites. Bid as of 1:50PM EST was $500, so less than half market value! About 20 or 30 other tubes in the lot, but it seems those 7119 are bringing out the bidders!

I don't have the money to bid. Thought others who might be into tube amps and preamps might be interested.

They went for $616, so someone got a good deal on those! $1150 retail price for $625 or so.

The trouble with that auction is that there's no way of knowing whether or not all those tubes were NOS. I've bought many lots of tubes, only to find out that some contained switch-outs, many barely testing good - or worse. Those 7119 tubes were also used in many industrial HVAC differential controllers - before solid-state controllers hit the market. HVAC techs would routinely replace all of them while performing annual maintenance. I've got a bunch of 12AX7's I bought from a retired HVAC tech - - some are good, most were weak. Buyer beware. . . .

Whether used or new, any time an item is no longer manufactured and sold regularly in stores (on line or brick and mortar), there is no such thing as "retail price". Someone may have got a good deal based on a "one at a time price", but they also bought a lifetime supply.

That is too much to pay for a flipper. By the time you auction these off, pay E-bay, and all the associated costs such a packing and running to the post office, it is not worthwhile.

There are still plenty of NOS tube dealers, so a fair-market price can be established. The buyer could flip the lot to a dealer instead of handling individual sales. The only issue is, "How many are good?". Worth the risk to some folks.

What exactly is a 7119? I see they have plate (or grid) caps, so what kind of pre-amp tube uses that configuration?

the one with the cap is not a 7119---it looks like a HV rectifier

Here is a snip from a data sheet found at Frank's

Not obvious to me why these would be in demand..... Any chance that someone is thinking about the 7199?

ESRC has the 7119 for $15 and the 7199 for $22

Those listed on the box as made in Holland are going for $52: https://tctubes.com/Amperex-7199-E182CC-tube-Holland.aspx at a tube supplier, and $230 for a tested, matched pair of the "Holy Grail" of this tube type: https://www.tubemuseum.org/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=E182CC.

If just half of the 23 shown 7119 were made at the right time in Holland and test good, then the buyer has a really good chance of covering his cost.

Sounds like someone really took a chance on buying those tubes.

Within the last two days and bid on and didn't win a small collection of what could have been all used tubes that were boxed; some had hand-written numbers. Most were common tubes but there were two boxes of Radio Shack EL-34. None of the boxes were open and none of the tubes were photographed so they were sold as-is. Seller claimed to have no knowledge of what they were.

I will bid accordingly on these auctions; meaning, as if the tubes were used. Some bid like it was NOS.

"The 7119 is not intended to be used in circuits critical as to hum, microphony and noise."

Doesn't sound like an audio persons dream tube....

Perhaps these characteristics make them ideal for heavy metal enthusiasts
