What a wonderful piece of history. At first glance, I thought they were names of people. There all the places he went.
I think the case has some class and I wouldn't touch it. I'd love to get that baby playing again though.

good research Eric... it could be that after being taken prisoner, the radio got "acquired" by another GI..and went home with him.

How certain is everyone that it’s authentic? I’m curious if an eBay seller or someone else tried to take a regular radio and “dress it up” so to speak.

That is always possible and the thought crossed my mind as well. Those painted on markings look very old though.

What is confusing... The "Top Hatters" was a name given to a Navy Squadron who served in the Pacific. I also see a US Army Air Forces emblem on the side and those listed cities are in Italy. Definitely some interesting history there.

Typically doing fakes that authentic would be done on something that would net a very large amount of money. I had no doubt about it's authenticity myself.

It sold for $445.
