I got the admiral .nice piece. 11 tube chassis ,push pull audio. It was complete. Someone had stripped the cabinet ,so refinishing will be quick. I just got done recapping the chassis. The belt was toast so I subbed in an o-ring and now the fly-wheel tuner is smooth.Plays and sounds amazing. I have to stay off Craigslist, facebook market place etc.. ......

Model AM 787 I believe is what he has. Had a nice one years ago, a friend begged me for it, sold. Made by Continental Radio.

Yes, it is AM787.,AM7 in riders under continental. This radio is a very good player with super audio and selectivity. It also has a copper plated chassis, something I haven't seen much. When I get the cabinet re-lacquered I'll post some pics.

I hate when the pictures aren't attached... You know the ad will disappear so it just wastes my time on a now dead post.

It was much like this one on Radiomuseum, and in about the same condition:

The radio on FB was actually an AM786. The one in RadioMuseum has been refinished in poly and the foot was stripped but not refinished. The one on FB looked original to me, in good condition but a little worn. I actually thought it was better than the RMorg example.

The one in RMorg, I took the photos with my cell phone. I spotted it in an antique store one day, at antique store prices ($300), so I left it behind. To me it's just kind of a pedestrian cabinet for 1936. If it had been an AM787 at the same price, with the dramatic curved-front cabinet and upward-tilted dial face, it would've come home with me!

The owner said its a AM787, don't know if he knows the difference with AM786. Sold my AM787 for $225.00, waterfall dial.

I'm sorry ,am786 is the correct model number. This one I have does not have the curved front dial.

Very nice work!

How's it play? Or have you just completed the cabinet?

This is the dial on a Sonora tombstone that I have. The Chassis is pretty much toast but the Dial is still nice and intact.
