It looks like it might be able to be partially restored/refreshed without stripping the entire set.

This would be one I'd have to examine in person if I was interested. The exterior looks like much of it could be revived; however, all that rust inside would make me wonder about the integrity of the metal.

Yes, it definately looks like it was in damp storage although it just may be surface rust. Being the tuner isn't frozen, their may be hope for the chassis.

The interior could also look like that after the mouse nest was removed. Not saying there was one in there but its a possibility.

I bought it.

The chassis is basically a parts chassis with all of the rust. I bought it for the metal cabinet. It's going to replace the very rough metal cabinet on the 512 I've owned for a number of years:

Surprisingly, the lid of the 512 I already had (above) is in better shape than the lid of the eBay 512, so I'll use the lid I already had (as well as the chassis I already had) with the main part of the eBay 512 cabinet to make one pretty decent radio.

Good one Ron. Those are definitely not common. Do you have the red speaker? I have a brown one and the matching speaker housing.
Consider putting together the "beater" one and try selling it since they are pretty rare - if you are not going to keep it.

Nuke

I plan on doing just that, thanks. :)

As for the red 212 speaker - I wish I had one. I do have a 211 Spanish Brown speaker plus another empty 211 housing around here somewhere.
