Goofy seller. He has 2060 feedback score but the shipping is listed as $7.90.

Maybe it will fit in a small flat rate box.

If he finds someone who will pay $599 for it without the coils, I'm sure he will be happy to make up the difference.

Where would the extra coils go?

Here's another one that looks similar, sold for a good price...

Ahh, now I see!

Do the additional coils attach to the rear of the right hand variable cap?

Thanks, Tim

The coil is used externally and placed on top a CR5 or CR9's lid above it's internal bank wound coil. Electrically it connects to the output terminals on the RORN's tube socket /terminal board. This isolates the antenna from the regenerative receiver eliminating transmission of the regeneration signal which was a problem in the 20's. Grebe addressed this 2 ways. With the RORQ "Clarifier" which only isolated the antenna circuit and the RORN which actually boosted the signal through tuned RF amplification. Today the broadcasts are stronger and closer together, making the use of the RORN hardly a noticeable improvement. It is although part of the lineup and very collectable today. Mine has the instruction manual which shows the RORN connection to various CR series model receivers.

Actually a good price. A RORN with four good coils is extremely hard to find and one sold at auction not too long ago for over $2400.00!

Actually, I've seen a RORN w/all coils sell for a whole LOT less.

Unless, that is, you were the winning bidder

As Joe (grid-leak) posted - P.S. One sold for $1000.00 at the Terry Auction last year. It had 2 of the 4 coils. Though there's always exceptions, near mint and 4 good coils are rare and usually go for a lot more.
