I had bought a new Thermostat from an eBay seller, which I presumed had a certain feature -continual backlight on- and it didn't. I contacted the seller to arrange to return it, and also asked eBay for a return.

They determined that under the circumstances, I would have to pay the shipping. The seller generously refunded both my bid and initial shipping, after I returned it, at my own expense.

Then I noticed something on PayPal and investigated. They offer "Return Shipping on Us". I applied, and they did indeed refund my return shipping cost. Here's the link for that service;

:D

That's great!

Does the Return Shipping on Us service cost me anything?
No. You pay no fees or deductible to use this Service. However, you must meet the eligibility requirements listed above to use the Service.

If the seller is paying the return shipping then why is Paypal also paying you? Is the seller getting a refund?

No. In the case I referenced, the seller refunded my bid and his initial shipping cost to me. PP refunded my return back. The net result was that there was no cost to me AFA shipping, or for the item. The sellers loss was on the initial shipping charge. That's why I said that he was generous.
