Restored? No way! He only replaced two caps in it.

Minimally restored just enough to get it to play and then sell it. Even the dial has one working light. Seriously, replacing that bad light wouldn't have broken the bank for this seller.

Yep, a minimal functional repair. Nothing more.

I haven't been able to understand why so many people have been going ga-ga over this set the last couple of years.

Too bad some pinhead painted the escutcheon and the two correct knobs, but it's probably at least a decent chassis for some one who has a T2 or T3 with a good cabinet. :x He sure wasted his money if that's what he paid for the "restoration" though.

Not necessarily a horrible deal for whoever bought it, if they needed a pushbutton or two to complete a T2 or T3, which can sell for north of $2000. You could probably recoup the cost by offering a few of the pushbuttons for sale to someone else who needs them. The motorized tuning section shares parts with a number of other Detrola radios, so those parts are a little easier to come by, but none of those radios go cheap these days.
