I wouldn't have a problem paying the asking price just for the little Motorola....

I agree. Wave a double sawbuck in front of him and he'll bite, lol.

Nice save! What is that Motorola? As I look at it, I go back and forth on whether it's a radio or an intercom, considering there's only 1 knob (albeit missing) I can see - either way, it's really cool looking!

Not sure what model it is. It does have a dial though its missing the knob. I'll see about getting some pics posted once they are here and settled in.

I think you may find out that little radio is a Belmont made chassis. The tuning knob should be on the right hand side of the case.
Which also the case looks to me as a home made replacement for probably a busted bakelite case which was original.

Same chassis as the Firestone R320.

It looks like the radio in question has a metal cabinet with imitation wood printed on the surface. It's missing both the tuning knob and On/Off volume control knob.

Its what it looks like to me.

Well, the cabinet has what looks to be overlapping seams running all along the front and back edges of the top of the cabinet. The finish isn't cracked in the way you'd expect from a wood finish to age, more like how paint on metal would age and crack. I even see a piece of this paint chipped of just above and to the right of the dial. Maybe the middle section is wood and the front and back are metal with painted imitation wood on it.

There's a close up shot of the Motorola tag in the FB pics. The openings for the buttons/switches can be seen in detail in one of those pics. Looks a lot like wood to me. I'll find out for sure tomorrow.

Didn't see that closeup, at first but now that I did, I'll agree that the front is wood. Still has a strange crazing of the finish and I'm still scratching my head over those two seams that line the top and sides of that cabinet. Maybe that's just the result of joining thick slabs of wood together. Still looks like it was constructed like a school lunchbox.

Badwaxcaps, I think I have the tuning knob that you need for that radio. These style of Belmont-made radios used a thumb screw in the center of the tuning knob to set the push buttons. Simply loosen the screw, tune to the station you want to set, hold the button down, and tighten the screw back up. Unfortunately, I don't have a screw with my knob, and the knob is pure brown bakelite. PM me if you are interested and want pictures.

They are here in their new home. I'll update this post once I have looked them over and such. One globe 45 though. Fingers crossed its still good...

The 45's are good :D . The Motorola cabinet is all wood and is either factory or a very skilled person made it. No model info at all. The chassis does have "CHASSIS NO. 350" imprinted on it. 5Y3, 6Q7, 6A8, 6K6, 6K7 tube lineup.

I know the Motorola has generated all the interest, but I've always wanted one of those RCAs with the unusual horizontal tuning. One has just never come available at a sane price near me.
