This is nothing more than a cheap $49 Crosley Cruiser Chinese junk record player that someone stuck Beatles graphics on and look at what the bid is up to. When I first saw this, it gave me an idea as to what to do with all the Crosley Cruisers that I find; but, I could do something like this, list it on Ebay, and would be lucky to get a $20 bid. Let someone else do it and it gets bid up to over $300 (and counting). Stick a nice original '50's or '60's restored record player on there and you might get one $20 bid. Take some Chinese garbage record player that sounds horrible and will likely die within 6 months and they bid it way up, all because someone stuck some Beatles decals on it. Frankly, I'm getting tired of looking at Ebay for vintage record players and all I'm seeing is listing after listing of some modern Chinese garbage record player. If I wanted that kind of garbage, there are plenty enough local places that I can get it and I don't need that vomit starring me in the face when I'm looking for older stuff on Ebay.

It's well done for what it is, but I don't know who would really want it, especially for $300+! A serious clash of era's.

The technical term for Crosleys and those similar is a "Crapophone."

I'm not a fan of theirs at all, so I wouldn't give 5 cents for anything Beatles related, and you couldn't pay me to take a Crapley record grinder. Unless it was to give it an EOL treatment.

I think that term refers more to the hideous fake/cobbled together reproduction wind-up acoustic gramophones that come out India and China.

The technical term for Crosleys and their like is just plain old Chinese garbage.

The Crosley thing is a knockoff of a real 1960's phonograph (also a cheap piece of junk) the question is if it's a licensed piece, or a bootleg.

I actually got one of those Crosley retro phono's once to bring over my parents to play some old records. I use it now to check-out old records I find in my travels. It's okay for that. As cheesy as they are, it actually does the job adequately, although external speakers are a must. The one's supplied within the phono have the quality of a old pocket radio. Another odd thing is the variable speed control. If you accidentally move the control, it takes a while to get the correct speed set again. One thing I must say in all fairness is that it's not at a level where it falls apart in your hands.

Right, in 1964, just a cute pic of Lennon playing his records in the bathroom. Today, he'd get raked over the coals. 220 volts in a bathroom sink, yikes!

It looks like just a publicity shot for a teen magazine. Could be a gutless prop. But it implies that this can be done and kids are gullible.
The official Beatles record players have power cords.
Last year, a teenager electrocuted herself in a bathtub with a cellphone charger, very sad.

But I was just making a comment, that was then, this is now.

Speaking of now, ripoffs occur every day and life goes on. :x

Yes, kids are gullible, but it's their stupid parent's fault if they don't know that electricity is dangerous, and they shouldn't take a bath with it.

And yes, somebody got ripped off. BADLY.

If you carefully read the auction's description, the seller does a pretty good job in disclosing that this record player is, in fact, a new product and not something from the 1960s. If this was a legit auction then I say congratulations to the seller for such a great sales score and congratulations to the buyer for paying way to much for a modern Chinese made retro phonograph. Better his money then mine.
